Alan McBurger Shrine

Portrayed by: Michael Weston
Occupation: Boston attorney / occasional tyrant
Important relationships: Bethany (obsession), Daniel (rival), Ronnie (roommate)
Biography
A man convinced that every rejection is a clerical error. Alan begins the season with funny imaginary cartoons and ends it trying to subpoena reality itself.
In the early episodes this character seems to belong to a perfectly ordinary workplace comedy. By midseason, the office itself has become a place where memories, motives and even employment histories can be rewritten. Watch the reaction shots: they tell a different story from Alan’s narration.
Character Development
The episodes I recommend for watching this character are the pilot, The Perfect Woman, Forbidden Fruits and the finale. Some of the biggest changes happen without anyone mentioning them out loud.
Favorite Quote
I was there first. Property law recognizes prior claims.
Webmaster Notes
My friend Scott thinks Alan is secretly the villain. I disagree (except in Alan’s case, which is becoming a little difficult to defend). Please send theories, NOT chain letters.
