THE WHOLE STORY (SPOILERS!!!)
Alan represents a husband suing his wife for failing to appreciate him, which Alan considers the great unprosecuted crime of the century. Bethany sues Alan under his own theory within one scene. He casts Duodecim Mei and the jury becomes twelve Alans, who deliberate in perfect unison and find him not guilty.
Rachel is unsettled by the verdict, mostly because it was free. The judge asks the clerk who the twelve men are. The clerk does not know either. Continuity: the Codex can copy a man, but not his doubts.
⚖ CASE OF THE WEEK
Husband v. Wife: insufficient appreciation as a tort.
💭 INSIDE ALAN’S HEAD
Alan's closing argument is a TED talk delivered to a cat.
📖 CODEX LORE
THE JURY OF 12 ALANS: the Codex can duplicate a person, just not their conscience.
My Two Cents
I was Alan's biggest defender here but the twelve Alans scene made me laugh and then feel weird. Also my sister watched it with me and said 'he is the problem' and I did not talk to her for an hour. I give it 🍔🍔🍔 out of five burgers.
Best Quote
ALAN: Objection! Feminism. JUDGE: Overruled. On what grounds, Mr. McBurger?
Continuity Watch / Theories
Clock in Rachel's office reads 11:17 in two scenes with different lighting. My list of clock errors is now 6 long.
