THE WHOLE STORY (SPOILERS!!!)
Alan is sent to a prison to represent men who claim they were wrongfully jailed by women. They are all former owners of the Codex. One tells him the book “found a vacancy.” Alan casts Carcer Meus to rewrite the prison and the building starts rewriting him back.
Ronnie visits and finds the inmates familiar. Rachel signs the release papers with a smile. Continuity: every past owner is serving time inside the book.
⚖ CASE OF THE WEEK
Inmates v. The State: prisoners who say they’re from another show.
💭 INSIDE ALAN’S HEAD
Alan imagines the prison as an open-plan office with excellent lighting.
📖 CODEX LORE
THE OWNERS: every past owner of the Codex is serving time in it.
My Two Cents
I was SO sure this was a filler episode. WRONG. 'The Inmates' might be the best hour of the season. It answers a lot and asks even more. THE ORIGINAL OWNERS ARE REAL!! I give it 🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔 out of five burgers.
Best Quote
INMATE: You think you found the book. The book found a vacancy.
Continuity Watch / Theories
Look at the cell numbers, they spell out Daniel's birthday if you read them sideways.
