THE WHOLE STORY (SPOILERS!!!)
Alan has never left Route 9 and is invited to lecture on “traditional masculinity.” Ronnie takes him on a real trip to prepare, and for one episode the show is a warm buddy comedy: Alan sees a field and is stunned. At the luncheon he casts Vox Magna to improve his speech and is booed off stage by an audience that cannot say why.
This is the only episode without a laugh track. Ronnie drives them home in silence, and Alan, for a moment, almost apologises. Continuity: none; that is the point.
⚖ CASE OF THE WEEK
Chamber of Commerce v. Alan: a speech on being a Man of the World.
💭 INSIDE ALAN’S HEAD
Alan's flashback to a road trip turns out to be a map of his own apartment.
📖 CODEX LORE
RONNIE'S ARC: the only episode with no laugh track. Nothing is deleted. Nothing is happy either.
My Two Cents
My favorite episode. It's so human! Alan almost seems like a good guy. Ronnie really is the heart of this show. I hope FOX gives Blair Underwood more to do. I give it 🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔 out of five burgers.
Best Quote
RONNIE: There's a whole country out here, Alan. Some of it likes you.
Continuity Watch / Theories
The only episode with no laugh track. Not once. Did FOX forget or is it a statement?
